Tired Rituals (Series)

Zoe has created a series of pinprick studies over the past three years that examine the beauty standards and expectations placed on women. The use of pinpricks to present nude female figures represents the painstaking and draining efforts women go to each day to make themselves feel beautiful. Each figure is presented nude to emphasise her feelings of vulnerability when she doesn’t undertake these everyday rituals. This artwork relies on texture and light to create the visual element, rather than additional media applied to the surface of the paper. Zoe’s pinprick studies have been exhibited at The University of Tasmania, The Henry Jones Art Hotel and the hotel’s Art Prize and at the Brunswick Street Gallery.
